Whitney wouldnt even be worth much. A 3rd or 4th rounder. And the likelyhood of that 3rd rounder turning NHL player? Highly doubtful. Probably better to keep him so we xan have a left pairing dman for the playiff push and hopefully, playoffs |

In no world should that trade ever be made, aside from Nashville world. |

Clearly you aren't aware how trades go down. Do you really think each team sends out a memo saying "player X is available! Send me your offers!" to every team in the league? No that's not how most deals happen. GM's talk about a possible trade, say "hey what about this guy?" Then the other GM says, "No I'm not moving him, but maybe this pther guy can be included if you throw in a pick", or something along those lines. So it's not like the Oilers brass even knew Forsberg could be had, let alone try to put together an offer for him. Drives me nuts when I read things like this where people say "Well we could have given you more!" after a deal is already done with another team. Every trade by every team isn't layed out in point form so the 28 other GM's in the league can look them over to see if they can offer something better before it goes down. |

Strangely I find myself agreeing with you for the first time. Although I think part of the reason was they didn't want to give the impression of quitting on the season to the locker room, they've sucked so much up to this point giving the impression of being in the playoff hunt and not dealing away players for futures is probably worth a lot to them and to the kids. Although kind of a moot point as Washington probably didn't want Hemsky. McPhee is still stupid though. |

Hemsky isn't a UFA at years end either. Not sure what your point is there. |

Richy, richy, richy, you dumb POS.
First off, Hemsky is absolutely not better than Erat.
Second, EDM's in the playoff race, they're not going to trade roster pieces, and depth defence men for prospects or picks, because they'll need them if they make the playoffs.
Rich, you're like me playing NHL13, I just like trading for 1st rounders and 18YOs. In real life it doesn't work in real life, stop suggesting it. |

Considering the way you want to manage the team, I'd be thrilled with what happened.
You can't build a winner with an entire team of under 25ers. All of your posts seem to reflect some dire need to ship out all of the veterans for unproven youngsters. Edmonton has the youngsters, now they need proven veterans.

If clouts knew anything about hockey or thought logically as you have here, he wouldn't be able to write 15 blogs a week. |

His point was just proving he's a habs fan in Montreal that doesn't know (frank) all about any other team than his own. Point taken. |

Don't be foolish. They probably called the Oilers a few times trying to make that deal.

Maybe Erat's just underrated in the hockey world and he was going to cost a good young player or top prospect. Forsberg imo probably ends up as bigger Erat type player anyways. |

While I do agree with most of this and am upset by the lack of action by Tambo but how is trading hemsky for a prospect like forsberg helping our chances for this year? And plus while hemsky is a better skill player than erat, erat brings a grit and toughness that was probably the seeking point for the caps. |
